WMR Vision 2020 Summit
Postponed
September 29 - October 2, 2021
Our Decision to Postpone the Summit
Last week, at our monthly WMR meeting we had a very serious discussion about the concern of hosting the Vision 2020 Summit in light of the pandemic. While we were initially hopeful, it now seems that there is not a clear end in sight. Above all the attendees’, sponsors’, and speakers’ well-being is our top priority.
The WMR Planning Committee, the AIA New Mexico Board, and the AIA Albuquerque Board has made the decision to postpone the WMR Summit to 2021. We are excited to announce that we will be combining the Summit with our 2021 State Conference. This decision allows us to honor our contract with Hotel Albuquerque, and continue our planning efforts with AIA Albuquerque. We think that together we can continue to plan an incredible event that celebrates the region and strengthens our State Conference.
The new dates for the Vision 2020 Conference are September 29-October 2, 2021. The event will still be scheduled right before Balloon Fiesta so you may want to consider extending your stay to experience this amazing event!
Hotel Reservations
If you made a reservation at Hotel Albuquerque through our Hotel Room Block, the nights you booked will be transferred to the new dates. The Hotel will notify you when the transfer has been made, at which point you can keep them as-is, or contact the Hotel to change or cancel your reservations.

About the 2020 WMR Design + Honor Awards
The AIA Western Mountain Region Design Awards program recognizes excellence in design, planning, and construction, as well as significant achievements by AIA WMR members and allies who share the common cause of creating an excellent built environment. Design projects can be located anywhere in the world that are designed by AIA architects, registered and licensed in the Western Mountain Region. Entries are limited to work designed in and members or allies located in any one of the six states in the Western Mountain Region: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming.
The intent of the design awards program is to honor the highest standards of design in response to user requirements, site, context, climate, and environment. Each entry, regardless of size, classification, or location, is judged individually on the basis of total merit by a jury.
