“Live Matrix Document”

Background:  The AIA Western Mountain Region Board and leaders from each of the six states gathered in Phoenix in January 2016 to discuss key matters affecting members of the region.  The discussion items were organized into four categories: Prosperity, Value Proposition of AIA Membership, Diversity in Architecture, and Community Perception of Architects.  These topics were further fleshed out at a larger gathering at Grassroots 2016 in Detroit, and then defining the priorities of regional interest at the 2016 National Convention.  Results include an issues and opportunities matrix, which provides a tool for sharing resources and structure for sharing information in the coming year.  In addition, these priorities have been infused into the work at the Strategic Council, which ultimately prepares recommendations to the Institute Board.
